The DNC in Denver Colorado

To quote The Longest Yard, "Hist-tory" I had the honor to take in some history in person, attending the first two days of the Democratic National Convention in Denver Colorado. To see the State of Alabama cast their votes for an African American for President of the United States when in 1964 (the year I was born) African Americans could not even register to vote in Alabama is just beyond amazing. The spirit and the energy and passion for change charged the room inside the Pepsi Center and all over town.

Sundance Producer Conference

There is nothing more dull than a travel nightmare story, but come on I have to share this one. I want to the Sundance Institute for the Producer Conference. I was going to be there for just over 24 hours and it is a 75 min flight. first I missed my outbound flight because Delta made me stand in line for 30 min to re-print a boarding pass. After I switched to Southwest, the entire airport terminal was evacuated. I did finally get back into the airport in time to make my flight and got to Sundance just in time for my panel and meetings. It was great to catch up with freinds and meet the film makers. Becasue I didnt take my outbound Delta flight, they canceled my return ticket. So I spent the entire day flying and waiting in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. airline travel sucks

Obama For President

Alright, before you say "I thought you were for Hilary," let me remind you that Hilary is out of the race. I am surprised by the number of people who have yet to swing their support to Obama because they are still licking their wounds from the primary race. Obama is the real deal. He is a real democrat and while "hope" is not a strategy, it is much needed today in the U.S. and in the world. I want to believe in him because the alternative is too awful to imagine.

Cruising the Med 2008

Ok... the pictures are all of order in these blogs, but the trip was amazing. Venice first (see last post) then to Greece. We went to Santorini, Katakalon and Samos. Santorini was a exactly as you picture it. Whitewashed houses line the cliffs and clashes with the dark blue water. The mule ride up to town from the boat was an unplanned adventure but gave us stuff to laugh about for days.

We visited with family on Samos. It is so cool for my kids to see where their great grandfather was born.

Crusing the med 2008

The trip is underway. After a long but un-eventful flight from LA to Frankfurt to Venice, we boarded the Crystal Serenity. We had precious little time in Venice, but managed to get to Murano Island and have a nice lunch in San Marco Square. Now off to Greece...

Film Your Issues

I am on the Advisory Board for a great organization called Film Your Issues and they had their annual awards ceremony last Friday on the Sony lot. So inspiring to meet young activist and film makers from around the country using films to educate and inspire. I also got to spend sometime with Kirk Douglas. Not too shabby.
